PRESS RELEASE
Leading pest control solutions manufacturer BASF is set to return to PestEx this March with news of an exciting, innovative fly-bait solution, Seclira®, reinforcing its commitment to advancing effective, practical pest control tools for professionals.
As a global leader in pest management solutions, BASF will use the event to showcase Seclira’s® breakthrough approach to fly control designed specifically for use in urban environments, hospitality settings, commercial sites, animal housing and other sensitive locations. Developed through years of research, market consultation, and extensive field trials, the new ready-to-use pressurised fly bait offers pest controllers a fast, precise, and discreet method of tackling nuisance fly infestations.
The solution enables targeted application exactly where flies naturally rest, using simple spot or band treatments. This precision approach allows pest management professionals to achieve rapid results while maintaining high standards of hygiene and discretion in customer-facing environments.
Flies pose more than just a nuisance in hospitality, food-handling environments, animal housing, and public spaces. As known carriers of bacteria, viruses, and parasites, they pose a significant risk to hygiene, food safety, and business reputation. Effective fly control is therefore essential to protect staff, customers, and public health.
Seclira® Fly Bait delivers visible knockdown within minutes and provides residual control for at least six weeks, helping to cover the most critical periods of the fly season. Its discreet formulation is non-repellent, odourless, and colourless, making it particularly well-suited for restaurants, bars, hotels, warehouses, and other high-hygiene or public-facing environments.
Convenience has been a key focus of the product’s development. The ready-to-use formulation eliminates the need for mixing, diluting, or painting bait onto surfaces, saving valuable time on site while reducing mess and disruption. Applications are quick and targeted, with a 15cm band spray treatment attracting flies to feed on the undetectable bait.
Powered by the fast-acting active ingredient Dinotefuran, combined with a highly attractive bait matrix, the solution is effective against both house flies (Musca domestica) and stable flies (Stomoxys calcitrans). It delivers rapid knockdown while remaining virtually imperceptible to guests and staff.
Laurence Barnard, Country Business Manager at BASF, commented:
“Fly infestations aren’t just a nuisance – they’re a threat to hygiene, productivity, and reputation, particularly in hospitality and food handling environments. Pest controllers need solutions that work quickly, reliably, and discreetly. This new fly bait has been designed with those real-world challenges in mind, offering fast control without compromising on professionalism or appearance.”
Supplied in convenient 500ml cans, the product can treat approximately 400m² of building surface and can be easily integrated into existing fly control programmes. BASF advises it should be used alongside other best-practice measures to help reduce the risk of disease transmission and maintain effective long-term control.
Visitors to PestEx will be able to learn more about the new solution by visiting stand 84 and speaking with the BASF technical team throughout the even, or by attending an informative presentation on Seclira®: revolutionising fly control, delivered by Jeferson de Andrade.
